My wife had a nice quiet relaxing weekend, comfortable room and good quality food in the restuarant

    • Family with children

Location and exterior facade were excellent. the provision of valet parking and easy access to hotel affiliated places to eat proved vital on a bank holiday weekend when the town does not offer a wide choice of places to eat. the breakfast was good

I found the refurbishment un-imaginative and this showed in the room, which in addition had only moderate levels of daylight. the beds were not particularly comfortable and there was plenty of noise overnight.

The central location. The staff were friendly. The cars get valet parked as there is no parking attached to the hotel.

The hotel itself seemed a little bit outdated and tired. It is a lovely old building but the rooms were very basic and the furniture and bathroom very dated. Breakfast service was very slow.

      lovely central position

room needs updating, particularly bathroom, shower not functional, pink suite!

Food in Chambers was excellent. Close to shops/historic places of interest.

Wardrobe was not very big -if we had been staying for more than 2 nights we would have struggled to store clothes/luggage. Bathroom was not very roomy or particularly clean-shower curtain was smelly.Had to ask to borrow iron/ironing board. On our last visit we had no complaints.

The hotel was very nice and our car was parked for us

I thought it was abit expensive for what it was £75/night without breakfast

    • Older travelers

Courtesy free parking with car being taken and returned to Hotel from off-site parking facility

Excellent location, although finding it is a little difficult when driving

Nice hotel; pleasant staff; good location

Noisy in street outside until 2300 (seemed to be a live group in a nearby bar)...but then it is a city hotel so a certain amount of noise is to be expected; all was pretty quiet after that

Liked the fact that it was right in the middle of Shrewsbury and so convenient. Really enjoyed the buffet style breakfast as there was such a good choice. The staff were all so helpful and pleasant. As we only stayed one night the room was of an adequate size, had a nice view and was very clean and comfortable. We would definately stay there again and I have already recommended it to friends.

The location is ideal for shopping, restaurants etc.lack

Lack of information regarding a) the Italian restaurant being closed, and b) the dining room not being available until 8.30 in the evening due to a wedding reception taking place.

    • Older travelers

The building was a lovely period house, lots of character.

The cleanliness, the bathroom was really smelly.

    • Family with children
      7.4

Central location, near to shops and local pubs

Noise in early morning from various trolleys on the cobbled street

    • Single

Location - good for exploring Shrewsbury and surrounds. Easy reach of most nearby attractions. Historic centre of town. Efficient check-in / checkout at reception. Helpful manager.

Given it's location and history, this hotel requires additional improvements and touches to bring it from a 3-star (which it is), to a 4-star. Also the absence of a number of listed items from the menu in Chambers bar/restaurant and the over apologetic staff.

    • Group of friends
      10.0

Wow is the word I would use. Hotel staff very friendly. Booked a standard twin room which was very spacious. Hotel throughout was very clean n lovely thick fluffy towels. original beams and panelled wood Walls make u think u r back in Tudor times! Breakfast was well cooked and a good choice of hot and cold food. Hotel was in great location for shops, restaurants and river cruise. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
